This is Waterlow Park in Archway, N6.
💸Price - 7.0/10 - £10.45 is the going rate for these North London courts and whilst that may feel at the top end of what one is reasonably willing to pay for tennis in the city, it feels justified given the surroundings. Value for money is a solid 7/10. No more. No less.
🚗Accessibility 5.9/10 - You’re about a 15 min walk away from Archway station on the Northern Line, which isn’t bad. Until you find out you have to scale North London’s answer to Mt. Everest to reach Waterlow Park. Do not underestimate Highgate Hill.
🌴Surroundings 8.5/10 - Once you’ve ascended the summit, you’ll find yourself in the bloody gorgeous Waterlow Park. Immaculately landscaped shrubbery aplenty, and the feeling of being far away from the hustle & bustle. Sanctuary.
🎾Surface 7.7/10 - Nicely painted green tarmac surface. Quite slow and bouncy, but well suited to a Network Ace summer doubles session. Once again unspectacular, but nothing to complain about.
🤙🏻Vibes 8.6/10 - The beautiful Waterlow Park & a Network Ace social tennis session combining to deliver great Wednesday vibes. Shame it was only an hour long - just enough time to regain normal respiratory function post-hill climb, before heading back down to the pub.
🍻Post-game pint 11/10 - Whilst it was not captured on camera (likely that the significant altitude killed my battery???), Brendan the Navigator on Highgate hill delivered some apt post-session hydration for us all. Well deserved.
