Hillside Gardens Park Court Review

This is Hillside Gardens Park in Streatham Hill.
💸 Price 9/10 - Part of Lambeth Council, the regular cost of £7.70 applies to these courts and given the quality and upkeep of them, this feels incredibly fair. One point off for not offering a consolation prize for making it up that hill.
🚗 Accessibility 5/10 - That hill really is bad if you’re cycling from or through Brixton, but it probably isn’t that bad if you’re on foot doing the 11-minute walk from Tulse Hill Station. Really depends where you’re coming from, hence the mid-range rating.
🌴 Surroundings 6/10 - As the name suggests, Hillside Gardens Park is built into a hill which means the four tennis courts are terraced and, that’s quite unique for a London court. Is it vibey? Perhaps not like the likes of Wimbledon Park or Myatt’s Fields, but when you’re really into the game, who even cares?
🎾 Surface 9/10 - BLUE macadam is not to be frowned at, it’s almost like you’re at the Australian Open. The courts are well maintained generally but on this particular day in autumn they were rather leafy but we’ll give Lambeth council the benefit of the doubt there that they’ll sort that one out shortly.
🤙 Vibes 8/10 - It makes for a unique environment being in a “private” feeling court in South London and the painted wall on Court 2 is pretty iconic too.
🍻 Post-game pint 10/10 - We didn’t go that day, but The Railway Tavern by Tulse Hill Station has a phenomenal beer garden, inclusive of some of the best pizza in town provided by Bad Boy Pizza Society.
