This is our review of the four tennis courts at Belair Park, West Dulwich, SE21.
💸Price - 7.1/10 - £9.90 is a jump on the usual £7.70 typically found in the corner of the city. The courts are nice and the park is idyllic so value for money remain’s respectable.
🚗Accessibility 5.3/10 - May be controversially low, but it really is a pain to get to unless you either a) live here or b) own a bike. It is saved ever so slightly by a train line direct to Victoria from West Dulwich, but for the majority, it’s a bit of a trek.
🌴Surroundings 8.3/10 - Shame we’re at the end of the season, as just a little walk up the road and you can watch the mighty @dulwichhamletfc - Belair Park itself is very pleasant, as is the nearby Dulwich Village. You certainly don’t feel like you’re in London, with just the distant view of the BT tower as a reminder you’re still within the M25.
🎾Surface 7.7/10 - Solid, nicely painted in blue x green colour way - likely not too long ago. No complaints really, but again, nothing to write home about. I don’t really know what I’m waiting for here as we’re in the UK, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have some clay courts at least. Watch this space, special announcement on Monday.
🤙🏻Vibes 8.0/10 - As Julia says, the vibes down this way are somewhat old money. Very tennis coded.
🍻Post-game pint 1/10 - Yes, there is a nice pub close by, but it was 10am and therefore shut. Boring. Gail’s it is, a viable substitute but I’d much prefer the crisp amber nectar over a golden pastry. Personal preference 🤷🏻♂️
